TIVERTON —A night shift police lieutenant stands accused of directly or impliedly ordering officers under his command that the hours between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. were to be "quiet time," during which no law enforcement work was to be done. That is one of the revelations in a seven-page Tiverton Police Department report, dated Sept. 23, and modified Sept 27, that was released last week under a public records request to the department. more

Monday, Aug. 29 At 1:12 p.m., a Long Highway resident reported losing his motorcycle license plate. At 4:18 p.m., a Long Highway resident reported receiving several IRS scam calls. A High Meadow Road resident at 7:21 p.m., reported that a large piece of construction equipment had been stolen from his property. After a several-day investigation, the equipment was recovered. more
Monday, Aug. 22 At 3:31 p.m., a Long Highway resident reported receiving an IRS scam call. At 4:34 p.m., an Amesbury Lane resident reported receiving several IRS scam calls. A tractor towing a large piece of equipment on West Main Road at 4:44 p.m. struck a number of mailboxes, scattering mail into the road. more

Monday, July 18 At 10:39 a.m., a West Main Road resident reported an incident of credit card fraud. Wednesday, July 20 Police were called at 12:30 a.m. to a residence on Friendship Farm Lane in connection with a report of a domestic disturbance. Police determined it was verbal in nature, and the matter was resolved. At 5:42 a.m., a southbound motorist on West Main Road struck a utility pole and was later transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. His car was towed from the scene. more
